JANUARY 2008. Sagar Marine took "Alicia" to the Collins Stewart London Boat Show From the 11th January to 20th January 2008. SEPTEMBER, 2007. Now in Champagne and off for a tasting this afternoon. Heading then for the Marne to Paris then South on the Seine to repeat last year's winter mooring at Briart Jenny Keith & Billy. JULY, 2007. "Alicia" Caught up in the Thames Flood JULY 07 "WE ONLY INTENDED STAYING THE NIGHT!" W & S. Sagar. After being expertly lifted from Earith on the Great Ouse and transported onto the Thames we enjoyed our summer, meeting many interesting folk along the way. We joined in the fun at IWA's Silver Jubilee Meeting at Beale Park (Sagar won the Lionel Monks Trophy for best commercial boat at the Show (of course!) We are always admired and photographed for having such a lovely boat. It makes us so proud to own a Sagar. We have cruised the entire length of the Thames from Lechlade through to the tidal Thames Barrier. Great experience! We continued from Brentford up onto the Grand Union Canal to Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire to our winter mooring. In March, 2007 we began our cruising again, making our way up to the Blisworth Tunnel, although not through it. We have become quite expert at narrower locks and bridges. We continued back down the Grand Union to the Paddington Arm up onto Regent's and Hertford Union Canal onto the River Lea. We are currently at Hertford on the Lea (which is the end of navigation.) Our immediate future intentions are to explore as much of the River Stort and also the River Wey. We will eventually head back onto the Thames, then back onto the Grand Union to Leighton Buzzard for the winter. We have had such fun exploring and cruising the many English rivers and canals and have many happy memories. Our next adventure (we are never still for long!) is to cruise the French and Belgian waterways in Spring, 2008. We would appreciate any tips and adv ice from anyone on anything that would help us ease into the French lifestyle. Email address:- starofdestiny1@orange.net We look forward to hearing from you. Enjoy life! Derek & Erica. |
